Lunar New Year & Quick Thrift Trip

This Chinese/Lunar New Year we had some of our family over and to celebrate mother, of course, had to cook a feast! There was so much delicious food from steamed fish, to fresh egg rolls, and miniature cheesecake. Let me tell you, the food was beyond delicious.

That morning I had to procure some imitation crab meat for my sushi that I was going to be making, so I went to the 99 ranch market to get some. I then went to Best Buy to get a some gift cards for the kids because we were going to play BINGO that night and needed some prizes for the children.

I also went on a quick trip to the goodwill after because it was right down the street and I did get a few goodies as well, so was pretty happy I stopped by really quick.

I’m going to have separate posts for how I put together the tables cape for the table and for some of the recipes, but in the meantime, enjoy the blog I put together from the day.

Epic Thrift Finds at the Thrift & Money Bag Dumplings

Today was an awesome day. Got to go to the Veteran’s Thrift, one of my favorite spots, and found a a few pretty great things. I was able to find a Michael Kors pebbled brown shoulder bag, a Carla Mancini messenger bag, and my favorite find, a Tory Burch Robinson triple compartment satchel in canvas and golden brown leather. You can click on the photos to view the items in the shop.

Mom and I also made some money bag Dumplings, which were SO super cute, in preparation for our Chinese New Year party. You can check out all the fun in the vlog linked down below.

Finding Balance at the Grocery & Pura Scent Refills

In todays blog mom had me go to the grocery store to get some veggies she’s needed for dinner and I saw a sale on Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, so I decided I had to get some for the kids and me. You know, to balance out the vegetables.

Haha

Another great thing happened today. My new Pura refills came!!! I was so excited. The new scents smell amazing. I had to get the Holiday scent by Nest because it is not going to be available until next Christmas, Linen & Surf, and Peony & Silk. They all smell so amazing and I am completely obsessed with them. I don’t know how I lived without my Puras around the house. I think I definitely need maybe another one for downstairs so I can completely get the house smelling like perfection. If you are interested in trying out a Pura, you can go to trypura.com and use my discount code: ITSHADRIAN and get 15% off your entire purchase!.

Finding an Unwanted Intruder in My Storage Unit

You always hope and pray something like this would never happen. Something like this might not even happen to most people. But today… it happened to me. Dramatic; I know. Is it necessary? Yes.

The day started off like any other. Got up, got some coffee and breakfast. It was right after New Years. I just took down all the decoration early and I already had them inside the car waiting to be dropped off to our storage unit. Then I thought: Hadrian, you should get a jump on this and get everything put away so you don’t have to worry about it anymore. So I called up Jan (my brother) and asked him to help me drop everything off. We have done this dozens of time. Dropping off and picking things up off, but today was different. Today was a day that will live in infamy and in the deepest recesses of my mind; terrorizing me in my dreams.

I actually made the first move. There were a bunch of frames stacked up against the wall. I wanted to move them, so I scooted them over. We were working organizing and putting things away. I wanted to keep all the xmas stuff in the back of the unit and the spring and fall stuff in the front, so I can get to them easier as the seasons come and change. But then I look down by my foot. And down by my foot under a frame is a wiggling tail. A tail so evil it could only belong to a wicked creature bent on destroying me. A creature with scales, teeth, and maybe no arms and legs. I peered around the frame and could only see a large serpentine head and eyes writhing around looking at me. That was it. I couldn’t take another look. I promptly screamed and fled the premises. It was after much soul searching and prayer that I finally summoned up enough courage to take another look… but I couldn’t. I had to ask Jan to take a look at it and possibly let it go if it wasn’t a crazy hell bent legless monster ready to pounce on us once it was freed.

Long story short it was a lizard. A rather large lizard. Larger than any I’ve seen outside of captivity. But it left us alone and we finished putting everything away. You can see the dramatics in the photos and video below.
